Belgrade zoo was made in year 1936. It is the one of the oldest zoos in Europe.
It is located in the center of the city, on 6 hectares of rocky fortress "Kalemegdan".
Kalemegdan is very important cultural, historical monument, but, unfortunately, it is also a zoo prison.
The Belgrade Zoo houses over 2.000 animals with about 200 species.

| Belgrade zoo position |
|
This area is too small for 2000 animals.
Zoo garden shouldn't be near streats, near buildings, restourants with loud music...
Belgrade zoo is to close to buildings and city trafic.

| To close to the street |
|
 |
| Almost on the street... |

| Buildings |

| Restourant above cages |
|
Restourant /caffe "Kalemegdan" is just above cages where are wolfs, wild cats and bears.
If people enjoy listening to the music, does that mean that animals will sing and dance also?
Especially in the evening hours...
Their freedom is taken, they are far away from their natural habitats, hundreds of people are looking at them every day,
some visitors are disent, some are not....When the day madness
is over, it starts another one, loud music, people are shouting, singing.
There is no silence, no peace for this animals.
When some neighbour is listening to the music during the night, people call police.
Animals can't call police. Who can help them?
